Episode 4 – CIPS, websafe and the problem with securing critical Infrastructure
Filtering and securing communications to and from the Internet has been an issue of concern since the Internet began to become the mainstream medium of commercial communication and recreation it is today. Many types of security products exist as a result of this, each performing their own part in securing a connection to the Net. However, a comprehensive solution to properly secure these connections requires several components or products and the resources to integrate and manage them.
Commercial and government organisations are increasingly being attacked through highly sophisticated methods whose objective is to covertly penetrate the organisation and remove data and information without the organisations knowledge. Companies including Rolls Royce, Rio Tinto and BHP have been the victims of this type attack as have a number of government departments including the Australian Parliament.
