Hi. My name is Roger. Today I’d like to talk to you about using security as your unique selling proposition or your USP. Most people used to say their unique selling point is something to do with their business. Okay, this is a service we provide that is better than anything else or this is a widget that does so much more.
Those are your unique selling points. Then if you add a bit of a twist to it and saying that our business is really secure and we all know that you can’t be a 100% secure but we do a lot to make sure that we’re as close to that as possible. Then you can utilize that in a number of ways. You can then trust within your environment, in your business, in your clients by saying that when we take that information off the website, they’re going to make sure that nobody else gets to see it.
We can make sure that that trust is managed to that level. Or we can do brand management through it to make sure that everything that we do screams digital security. So we have the best systems in place, we have the best people doing things we get them to do. So you’re telling people about your security posture within your business.
And this is really important going forward in today’s world where people don’t understand about the security of their data. Anybody goes to a website, how many have given their first name and phone number, number of kids and where have they lived in the last ten years and all that sort of stuff.
We don’t want that to happen to a level where that information ends up on the internet under someone else’s banner that you have collected. So by having a secure environment you can then use that to emphasize the benefits of what you do because you are secure. And you are then protecting that information. And not enough is done to tell people how much protection is going into securing that information.
Thank you very much.
