When the cybercriminal starts to worry about operational security the rest of the world has a major problem!

Do you have a little under $4000 US in spare change?  Do you have the ability to speak and read Russian?   Are you able to withstand a criminal investigation, initiated by the criminals?    If you fit all three criteria you can purchase a crimewave tool kit.

The crimeware toolkit, code named “citadel” comes with all of the required malware, spyware and virus code, the FAQ’s (in Russian of course) and the instructions on how to make millions.   Designed to help build your online criminal empire and compromise users financial information, the tool kit also comes with a guarantee that your ill gotten gains will be substantial

For us normal people out there this is something that we try not to think about.   The cybercriminal are so sophisticated and organized that we have to constantly play catch up.   The organized crime elements are making considerable inroads into the Internet meaning that the common user has to be paranoid to protect themselves.   It is no longer a case of I MAY be targeted, it is now a case of when you will I be targeted.

When the cybercriminal are applying their own level of operational security to guarantee they protect their assets and their coding capabilities then we, the users on the Internet have major issues.   Organized and focused is one aspect of this issue.    The largest problem is, they would not do it if they did not see the opportunities and considerable financial gains that can be achieved.

The cybercriminal are targeting the Internet for a number of reasons.   There is very little financial investment involved, the Internet is world wide and detection, jurisdiction and prosecution is difficult, there are considerable financial gains to be made and the percentage of investment to gain is phenomenal.   Couple this with the fact that 50% of the world population has some involvement in the Internet through normal means or phones and tablets then you have a beautiful target rich environment.

So users of the Internet have to think through the personal and business security requirements of keeping and using information on the Internet.   We have to rely on ourselves to keep that information safe.
