Hi, my name is Roger. Today I’d like to talk to you about why a Managed Cloud solution is good for small or medium enterprise. The world is changing. Everything is moving to a cloud, but why is that?

Well one of the reasons is, is that it’s a lot more inexpensive to run your business from a cloud-based technology. Because you’re not paying for a large investment in the hardware and the software to make it all work.

For instance, if you’ve got a server in your office, and you want to use SQL, you’ve got to pay for the server, you’ve got to pay for the operating system, and you’ve got to pay for the database system itself.

Whereas if you’re working from a cloud-based technology, then you’re not worried about everything that’s underneath what you’re required to do, and what happens is you’re only paying for your requirements.

Now what that does for a business, is it frees up a lot of capital. So if I wanted to take my business to the next stage, I can use components of the cloud to do that. Those components of the cloud, for instance, Office 365 and Google Apps, okay, gives you the functionality of what Office used to do on your desktop.

But it’s now based in the cloud, you license it per month, you pay for it like you pay for electricity or your telephone. So what you’re doing is you’ve got a monthly bill that you pay for. But other components of cloud technology, as we go forward, are now becoming available.

For instance, you can use project management including information, like Asana for instance. Or we can use a CRN program to manage our contacts and our sales process. Things like Salesforce, Zoho, these are the things that make this available for you.

So to move to that basic cloud environment, there are erroneous things you have to watch. One is you have to make sure that you’re only paying for the things you use. It’s no use going, “I’ve got 10 users. Everybody needs Office, not a problem. But why does everybody need my project management software?” Or, “Why does everybody need access to my contacts?”

That is the information of why a cloud solution can be beneficial to your business. Now on top of that, if you talk to a main service provider, they have an understanding of what you require to get to that next level.
